Just a short post to say that I seem to be attending a mammoth amount of weddings in a very short space of time this year – the first of which is my cousin, Sarah’s, taking place this Saturday 18th February. As usually happens, I’ve been asked if I can ‘take a few photos’ at these most wonderful events to capture some memories and moments.
So why the blog post? I’ve never actually taken photos at a wedding before…!
To be honest this is mainly through choice of wanting to enjoy the celebration a of friend or family wedding I’m attending – rather than be glued behind the lens throughout the whole day. Although there is nothing that particularly worries me, I thought it’d be a great way to come back and write a post about the wedding, how I approached it and why I did what I did. Being a family wedding, my dad will also be in attendance – my dad being the one who continues to teach me all I know and I’m sure I won’t be lost for help (or additional photos!) on the day itself. The wedding itself is only a small and short ceremony, so although the scope is fairly limited, it’ll be great to see what we can come up with.
It’ll also be a grounding to take some tips and lessons forwards to the next wedding I’m attending in July – which come to think of it my dad will be taking the reigns on photography for! Perhaps he’s looking for a ridiculously good looking assistant for the day? But then again I guess I’ll have to do as the VAL! (Voice Activated Lightstand)
Check back soon for an update on the wedding, some pics and my thoughts and tips from the day itself.
Matt.
